Earthquake Awaran 2013

Description of the Event A large and powerful earthquake struck the province of Balochistan, a remote, mountainous region of Pakistan. On 24th September 2013, at 4:29 PM Earthquake intensity of 7.7 Magnitude and on 28th September 2013, at 12:34 PM earthquake intensity of 7.2 Magnitude on Richter scale hit the south-western province of Balochistan. Tremors were felt as far away as New Delhi. The region is Pakistan's largest, but least populated province. Major damage and loss of life was averted due to the earthquake's location in a remote area. 399 people were killed and almost 599 people were injured. A red alert was issued for the area. Distirct Awaran, Kech, Kharan, Panjgur,Washuk & Gwadar were affected. In District Awaran, the three Tehsil Mashkay and Awaran, and Jhal Jao and in District Kech Tehsil Hoshab were most affected.

Balochistan Flood 2013

Backgroud: Monsoon rains started (in Koh E Suleman range) on 2nd August 2013 affecting Loralai and continued till today 6th August 2013 by affecting districts (JhalMagsi, Jaffarabad, Sibi, Loralai, Khuzdar and Lasbela). The immediate needs were Food, Shelter and Mosquito Net etc which was provided by Provincial disaster Management Authority Balochistan. Dewatering and clearing of sewerage system was started immediately. Road of District Jhal Magsi was also restored by the district administration for the distribution among the flood affectees. In addition to this, relief items were distributed among the affectees who were shifted temporarily to the banks of canals and along the roadside in different areas.

Balochistan Earthquake Washuk (Mashkel) 2013

Background: 14 people were killed and over 24 injured after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit the border region of Iran and Pakistan on 16 April 2013. Hundreds of houses collapsed, rendering thousands of people homeless especially in the remote town of Mashkel and nearby villages in Washuk district. The damaged infrastructure includes shops, government buildings, houses and Schools. Nearly 90 percent area of Mashkel has been flattened.

Seasonal Monsoon Rainfalls Across Balochistan

The seasonal monsoon rainfalls across Pakistan began in the third week of August 2012, affecting Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (KP), Gilgit Baltistan (GB) provinces and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). A second spell of seasonal monsoon rainfalls started over the southern parts of the country from the end of the first week of September peaking on the 9th and 10th across Pakistan with flooding spanning over the provinces of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan

Balochistan flood 2010

The heavy rains hit northeastern districts of Baluchistan on 22 July early morning causing serious flash floods resulting significant damages to human life property. From the Initially available reports around 50,000 people in 30 worst hit villages are affected by the flood. PDMA Baluchistan had declared district Barkhan, Sibi, Kohlo, Bolan and Naseerabad as the flood affected districts where according to the available information 5000 to 10000 families are affected. From unofficial sources 50 deaths in the affected districts are also reported.
