Description of the Event A large and powerful earthquake struck the province of Balochistan, a remote, mountainous region of Pakistan. On 24th September 2013, at 4:29 PM Earthquake intensity of 7.7 Magnitude and on 28th September 2013, at 12:34 PM earthquake intensity of 7.2 Magnitude on Richter scale hit the south-western province of Balochistan. Tremors were felt as far away as New Delhi. The region is Pakistan's largest, but least populated province. Major damage and loss of life was averted due to the earthquake's location in a remote area. 399 people were killed and almost 599 people were injured. A red alert was issued for the area. Distirct Awaran, Kech, Kharan, Panjgur,Washuk & Gwadar were affected. In District Awaran, the three Tehsil Mashkay and Awaran, and Jhal Jao and in District Kech Tehsil Hoshab were most affected.
