Killa Saifullah, August 15, 2024 -ย The PDMA Balochistan monitoring team, led by Mr. Kaleem Ullah Khan, Assistant Director (M&E), along with Mr. Zohaib Ahmed (CRI), visited District Killa Saifullah with UN-IOM Representative Mr.Younis Kakar. Those villages were visited, where IOM teams are deployed for their Post-flood assessment.
The purpose of the visit was to monitor the activities and methodology of the UN-IOM assessment process in district Killa Saifullah.The PDMA team also visited the most affected and vulnerable place of the 2022 flooding, "Killi Khasnob" in District Killa Saifullah, which was also visited by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shehbaz Sharif, during that devastating flooding time period in 2022.During the visit, a meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner office in Killa Saifullah, chaired by the DC Killa Saifullah, Mr. Saeed Ahmed Khan Dumarr, and attended by Assistant Commissioner Killa Saifullah Mr.Saad Kalim Zafar, Representatives from PDMA, IOM, and various line departments along with the community.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner of Killa Saifullah was briefed about the ongoing assessment activities of the UN-IOM and the monitoring of PDMA Balochistan.
The DC Killa Saifullah discussed the recent flooding situations of different areas in District Killa Saifullah. According to him, a place named Killi Urgas in Tehsil Muslim Bagh is highly affected by the recent heavy rainfall and floods and needs immediate assistance from all the stockholders.
DC Killa Saifullah and other line department representatives highlighted the challenges facing the district administration, such as limited resources, difficulties in accessing remote areas, and the need for additional funding for the district.
Furthermore, DC Killa Saifullah emphasized the coordination mechanism among the stockholders and also assured IOM and PDMA representatives of his full support during the assessment process, whose purpose is to gather information about the population temporarily displaced due to floods, identify community needs, and assess community preparedness.
The information gathered from this assessment will be used to inform the Government, UN agencies, INGOs, and NGOs about the impact of the floods on the community and facilitate humanitarian responses.
The PDMA Balochistan Monitoring Team Visited District Pishin, Balochistan, to Monitor the Implementation of an IOM (International Organization for Migration) Post-flood Assessment Study ย
ย Pishin, Balochistan, August 13, 2024ย - With purpose of gathering information about the population temporarily displaced due to floods, identify community needs, and assess community preparedness. The 5th round of an assessment has been started by International Organization of Migration (IOM) in 10 districts of Balochistan.
Durring the visit, A meeting held at Deputy Commissioner office and Chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Pishin, Mr. Juma Dad Khan Mandokhail, and attended by representatives from PDMA , IOM, and various line departments along with community. During the meeting Deputy Commissioner of Pishin was briefed about the ongoing assessment activities of IOM with facilitation and endorsement of PDMA Balochistan .
The DC Pishin also provided details about the damages and losses during the 2022 floods and measures for post-flood preparedness.ย The representatives of different departments also highlighted the existing issues in their domains, Furthermore the DC Pishin emphasized on coordination mechanism among the stockholders. DC Pishin also assured IOM and PDMA representatives of his full support during the assessment process.ย
The PDMA monitoring team, led by Mr. Kaleem Ullah Khan, Assistant Director Monitoring & Evolution, conducted an extensive visit to different villages where IOM teams were deployed for the assessment, and checked their activities and methodology.ย The visit was to facilitate and monitor the assessment process of IOM in the district of Pishin.ย
The information gathered from this assessment will be used to inform the government, embassies, UN agencies, INGOs and NGOs about the impact of the floods on the community, to facilitate humanitarian responses.

PDMA Balochistan Monitoring Team Conducts Field Visits to Kachhi District, to Oversee and Evaluate the Implementation of UN-IOM Post-Flood Assessment and Coordination Activities.
Kachhi, August 16, 2024: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan Monitoring team covered several villages including village Pakar khan union council chandar District kachhi, The purpose of this visit was to monitor the implementation of the UN-IOM Post-Flood Assessment Study, evaluate the preparedness of communities, and enhance coordination among the UN-IOM team, government departments, and local NGOs, where the team engaged with local leaders, residents, and relevant authorities. The methodology involved administering questionnaires, conducting interviews with beneficiaries, and observing the state of key infrastructure such as housing, water systems, and sanitation facilities.
During meetings with village committee members, the IOM team reassured the communities that the information collected from this assessment would be crucial for guiding the Government, UN agencies, INGOs, and NGOs in their efforts to provide targeted humanitarian assistance and address the impact of the floods.
The monitoring team, accompanied by the UN-IOM representatives, also scheduled a meeting at the District Commissionerโs office. The team then held several productive meetings with key line department officers and representatives of local NGOs. These discussions highlighted the importance of joint efforts in tackling climate change-related challenges and emphasized the need for effective coordination.
During the meetings, the line department representatives were briefed on the ongoing assessment activities led by the UN-IOM. They stressed the importance of developing a comprehensive communication and information-sharing strategy to ensure that the findings of the assessment are effectively disseminated to all relevant stakeholders. Additionally, they discussed the challenges faced by district authorities during flood situations, including coordination issues and resource constraints.
The officers from the line departments and local NGOs expressed their full support for the UN-IOM team throughout the assessment process. The primary objective of this assessment is to gather critical data on populations temporarily displaced by the floods, identify the most pressing community needs, and evaluate the current level of preparedness within the communities.

Loralai, August 16, 2024- The PDMA Balochistan Monitoring team visited random villages in two Tehsils, Mekhtar & Bori, of Loralai District and the PDMA team visit objectives were to Monitor the implementation of the UN-IOM Post-Flood Assessment Study in theย District as well as to assess the current preparedness status of communities and to facilitate coordination between the UN-IOM team and government line departments and NGOs in the District.
he IOM team assured the village committee members durring meetings that information gathered from this assessment will be used to inform the Government, UN agencies, INGOs, and NGOs about the impact of the floods on the community and facilitate humanitarian responses.
During the visit, the PDMA Monitoring team along with UN-IOM team went to District Commissioner Loralai office for a meeting But the DC Loralai along with ADC Loralai were out of town in connection with official work.
After that, Several meetings were held with the officers of line departments Which includes DSM PPHI, DEO Male & DEO Female, Forest officer and local NGOs.Theย meetings emphasized theย importance of collaborative efforts to respond to climate change challenges.
During the meeting, the The line departments representatives were briefed over the ongoing assessment activities of the UN-IOM.
